Curiosity and Inspiration

Curiosity drives my life forward because I am always interested to learn new things. This is the essence of a growth mindset. Additionally, the growth mindset is knowing that one can learn new skills and knowledge. This is contrasted with a fixed mindset in which an individual believes that he/she has a static, or unchanging, mental capacity. The skills we have are the skills we are basically stuck with.

One of my curiosities is the idea of curation. I really enjoy curating content and sharing with the people around me. Based on previous working experiences, I know that my personality is more suited toward intellectual/academic research than customer service/business. I think of this as curation vs. business [where the main idea is: profit, profit, and more profit].

My dream job is to curate and lead a museum, or non-profit organization, based on a new concept. I’d love to create something that no one has ever seen before. I am inspired by a vision that deeply influenced my subconscious mind as a young kid on a field trip to a local historic museum / home. It was as if time stood still and I was able to experience history in a tangible way that I hadn’t felt, previously. One of the greatest pieces of prose writing I’ve ever read is from author Robert Greene’s Mastery, in which the importance of finding one’s childhood inclinations is explained in detail…ever since first grade, I can remember being drawn to the study of society / culture, history, and humanities. This curiosity has colored my observations and inspirations ever since. Therefore, I am excited to be in the home stretch of completing a bachelor’s degree in history. Then I will move into the even more intellectually stimulating adventure of a doctoral program in public history with specialized focus. Following this childhood inclination is a smart move and life-style choice; thus, I have and will stick to my guns. Stay tuned and please join me on this voyage of discovery.
